Wednesday Wishlist: Warm Chill

It is sort of getting chilly in the Philippines these days. Which sounds insane if you live in, say, Chicago (yes, that's you, Grace) or Minneapolis (and you, Maggie), because my Philippine "chill" is like a cool summer day for you. But for some one who seems to get cold in every situation possible, its chilly.

I had seen this cropped sweater on the Monki website one bored night, and decided at once that it had to be a part of my wardrobe. Both this one, and the white version. Literally the second day I got back to Hong Kong, I merrily got on the MTR to Mongkok and walked myself into Monki. Now, I don't know why I did not anticipate the possibility of me lusting after every other piece of clothing in that store, or that there would be a massive end of the year sale. In short, I did not get the sweater and instead purchased other items of clothing I didn't need. I have a problem. This cropped beauty is still on my radar though, and it will be in my closet one day. Soon.

The shorts are basic, any high waist denim shorts would work (actually everything in this outfit is pretty basic). This pair specifically is from Topshop.

The Joan shades are a new twist from the classic Lennon circle sunnies. That and the Topshop bowler hat adds just a little bit of edge to the outfit.

Lastly, I am a sucker for a pair of ankle boots, and for gold studs. So really, these shoes are a dream, or a nightmare because they literally taunt me every time I walk into Topshop. Why doesn't money grow on trees again?

This is the type of easy no brainer outfit that is needed from time to time. I figure it would be perfect for a sunny day but helpful when that gust of breeze comes up. Just enough to be warm, and just not enough to be cool.

enjoy. xoxo

My Katipunan Family

Over the weekend I definitely felt the love from my Katipunan family. I was a little troubled over what to do for my birthday, as it is the first birthday I have ever had without my entire family there on the actual day of. Also, it would be a little difficult to top my "surf" trip that I took last year.

I decided on a quaint dinner with my close friends, initially I had planned on 10-12 people going. Slowly but surely things began to head south.. and by south I mean...to the shits. Throughout the day, my friends began informing me of various reason why they could not make dinner anymore. One friend, turned into two friends, turned into five. Which, is half my birthday party. This is not exactly the kind of birthday surprise that one appreciates. THEN it began to rain which, for those who know me, I hate.

Silly pessimistic me.

In that night i felt a lot of love, even if it was from a small group of people. It's all about qaulity, not quantity. Not to say that my friends who didn't make it, don't provide me some quality lovin', but regardless of which of my friends were there, I knew I was in the company of people who truly cared about me.
Family never fails you, even if they are not biological (well Joseph is biologically my brother).

Good food. Courtesy of Pino in Maginhawa. Seriously good food. I mean does it get better than little orange bowls filled with sweet savory rice topped with baby oranges and shitake mushrooms on the side? Or wine soaked adobo short ribs? Yea...go clean the drool off your floor.

Pretty Lyra :)

Even better company. I know, I know. I have the world's most attractive friends. Its official.

Now, no birthday is complete without a cake. Or a vegan blueberry muffin.

Music Mondays: The Peach Kings

Music has always been a predominant part of my life. Whether it is experimenting (and failing) at various instruments including the french horn, violin, piano, and guitar; or dancing while getting ready in the morning to some Ellie Goulding; or simply shutting out the world by putting my earphones into my ear.
There are so many things I love about music, but one of my favorites has got to be its ability to change my mood. There is so much beauty in how a 3 minute track can sway your emotions and lift your spirits, or depress you (unfortunately, it has that power as well). I cannot tell you how many times i have had the shittiest of days that have been cured by some LCD Soundsystem or Beach Boys or Cee-Lo.

The band I want to share with you all today is: The Peach King
Now, this is a band I discovered back in 2011 enjoyed for a solid 6 months, then inconveniently forgot about, until the release of their new single.
However, the song that got me to fall in love with them was one of their more known singles, Thieves and Kings. There something about it with a little rock n roll, and a very sexy groove. Basically if I could be as sexy as a song, I would like to be as sexy as this one, if that makes sense?

Enjoy.xoxo

Ocean Park

So seeing as how i am a complete loner out here in Hong Kong, I had no exciting Halloween party to attend. But i did, however, do one better: I went to Ocean Park. I mean what screams Halloween more than haunted houses and zombies and ghosts. Unfortunately, I wasn't as cool as others and had no costume. Sad face. But my sister and her friends (yep i hung out little high school kids) were cool and dressed up. My favorite was Byrant, (blog here) who was "the devil wears prada". He was going to wear his Prada shoes (to an amusement park I might add) but decided to just settle with Prada glasses. #fashionistaproblems.
The haunted houses were pretty good, if i was allowed to I would have tired to snap a few shots. There were a few epic things like this ghost FLYING/jumping out at you, whom I fived whilst screaming. That is multi-tasking right there. There was also like a butcher house area that was quite scary, having fake rubber pigs slap you around is not my idea of a good time.

The day was mostly for my sister's friends and her to hang out, I pretty much just tagged along.

Stanley Bay

Luckily yesterday my parents had the day off and we decided to venture off to Stanley Bay and Stanley Market. It had been such a long time since I've been able to just go out and enjoy the day with my family (sorry Joseph) and I had almost forgotten how much fun we have when we're all together. The place was filled with adorable delis, cafes, dogs, and skaters. All of which i happily welcome as a part of my day.

This building is pretty awesome, it was taken (in its entirety), basically plucked from Central, and placed by Stanley Bay. I am not sure how they did this, i would imagine a massive boat of some sort. Because they did not rebuild it, they just picked it up and plopped it down somewhere new.

Outfit of the Day:

Red Lipstick and Male Model

After enlisting for classes online, my day started rather horrendously. I decided the only thing that could possible cheer me up would be slapping on some red lipstick and finding male models in the Abercrombie & Fitch (not shallow at all).

After objectifying the male models at A&F, my sister and i decided to just stroll around Central and shop/eat gelato. And while we are on the topic of food, i just need to note that it is such an amazing feeling to be able to eat three meals a day again, PLUS snacks whenever i want. I forgot what living with parents felt like. I can feel the pounds piling on, but there are zero complaints coming from me. I spoiled myself and went for a large Berry Overload at Holly Brown. It kinda felt like i died and went to heaven. Just a little bit. But i do imagine heaven having a snack bar full of this stuff.
Nothing significantly happened today, but already it feels like i'm home, with my family. Hong Kong is such a busy city with constant hustle, which makes me feel right at home.
Outfit of the day. :)

I Always Knew

This is how i imagine love to be like.

A favorite song by a favorite band. Enjoy.
